This month’s Season 2017 Launch: Tourism Industry Forum was well-attended, with close to 50 representatives from across the tourism sector including operators, RTOs, and the Central Highlands, Rockhampton, and the Isaac Regional Councils.
A key message of the presenters, which included Queensland Tourism Industry Council Chief Executive Daniel Gschwind, was the power of partnerships. This is about operators supporting and connecting with each other to better promote themselves and the region, rather than seeing each other as competitors.
There was also lots of discussion about how to assist operators moving forward, such as establishing a private Facebook group operators to educate everyone on what is available in the region, and working together to package / bundle experiences for visitors.
Work by Susan Milne and Greg Stone House from Milne Stonehouse was also announced as the selected design for the Sapphire Gemfields Interpretive Trail’s signature art piece. Read more about the project here.
