One of the BIGGEST and best rock festivals is coming to the Central Queensland Highlands the weekend of the 27th and 28th May 2023.
Set to become the destination’s premier event, Gemfields Rocks will bring the four townships of the Gemfields community to life with a 2-day festival featuring a rocking line-up of entertainment, hot rods and classic cars, street parties and celebrations.
The festival boasts a stellar lineup of artists, ranging from Australia’s number one Queen tribute band ‘The Killer Queen Experience’, country music artist ‘Willow’, Mackay-based funk, groove and reggae band Fat Cigars, and a tribute to 50’s and 60’s rock and roll era featuring Elvis and more!
Gemfields Rocks will offer a family friendly event for all ages, welcoming locals, and visitors to join the fun.
Gemfield Rocks Festival committee secretary, Victoria Bentham is excited to see all of the behind the scenes planning come to fruition, and hopes that the wider community embraces the Festival to ensure it stays as a date claimer on our calendars for years to come.
“Our small but mighty destination already packs a punch with our passionate local community, unique location and offering, and welcoming atmosphere,” Victoria said.
“This event will further showcase our distinctive part of the world and provide significant economic benefits to the area by supporting local businesses.”
Gem fans will be able to find their favourite stones at displays across Anakie, Rubyvale and Sapphire, along with market stalls selling local wares will be set up across the May weekend.
Capricorn Enterprise CEO, Mary Carroll looks forward to seeing this event come to life, following the huge success of previous Gemfields events.
“The Central Queensland Highlands and the greater Southern Great Barrier Reef destination has become incredibly popular for its diverse terrains, top class tours, attractions, accommodation, retailers and now world-class events, all of which is continuing to put our wonderful destination on the map and increase visitation,” Mary said.
“I encourage those from right across the Capricorn region to pack up the family, jump in the car and head to the Central Queensland Highlands for the weekend to experience this jewel on our doorstep.”
Local singer songwriter and accomplished performer, Willow, will hit the stage over the weekend, sharing his distinct musicality and performance style through his own blend of contemporary country music.
“Performing in front of friends and family in my hometown is definitely up there with one of the best things in life, and I can’t wait to rock the stage,” Willow said.
“Entertaining as part of a line-up that includes an internationally renowned tribute band with talent such as John Blunt is a huge honour and I know that ticket holders to the Killer Queen Experience will certainly be in for an unforgettable night.”
